The auto-connect on startup allows you to 'forget' and not have to worry about turning on your VPN every time you start up your machine. By using the Wireguard protocol, Cyberghost can also block predefined content (ads, trackers, malware). If you are not a regular user, you would not want to spend money on a VPN. I don't see that issue anymore with the versions of the last few years.
