This means admissions data is in the same place as student data once students enroll, and also means a lot of our other tools are available at the same time. The knowledgebase can help you understand a lot of the process tasks, and there is often an article explaining how to do whatever you are trying to do. There are a lot of training videos and classes that can be helpful for getting a basic understanding. > > **Inconvénients**: The experience for families applying to our school is the worst part of Blackbaud EMS. Families typically do not understand what steps they need to complete, and realistically cannot progress through the process without us manually checking off certain steps. We have to push them along every step of the way, the only automation you can do is around reminders for due dates and things of that nature, which become useless the moment the due date has passed. If you offer rolling admissions, get used to copying and pasting the same messages you've sent 100 times about what steps need to be completed. The checklist works linearly and has been built in a way that does not allow flexibility, and the reporting is essentially broken in terms of classifying applicants. If you have optional steps they must go to to the end, and if you want to have event registrations through the checklist then they must go to the end as well for the candidate classification system to work. All steps before each milestone must be completed for someone to go from 'candidate' to 'applied.' The events registration forms have 6 pages minimum, the last two of which are redundant confirmation pages, and they cannot be removed. It is a nightmare for having public registration for an event you are tracking in Blackbaud, which is unfortunate because we'd like to know when someone has gone to an Open House or other event. It also looks bad, which compared to the very clean and sleek look of our website and all of our other marketing materials is really unfortunate. Also the support is a chatbot, which will send you to the knowledgebase. You must repeat your query, usually at least three times to get through to a human representative in my experience. > > Blackbaud EMS has been the devil you know for us, we have a good understanding of the system and so we work with it, and we go outside of Blackbaud EMS to do most of the communication or supplementary work we do for Admissions. Events registration is painful, but it is fine as a database. We like that it has integrations, and that because we use their LMS everything is consistent. Its use is not intuitive. The looks and feel of things, as well as the built-in communication designer for push pages, is very unfortunate - it looks like a 90s website.
