For roofing it is really easy to adjust conditions to meet your project needs. > > **Inconvénients**: In some cases it crash when working abroad. Set up is pretty easy for our techs. The admin portal is also an excellent resource. They stay on top of bugs and issues. A great tool for bidding \& estimates. Security seems pretty tight too. As far as value for the money, it tends to lean towards the pricier side of estimating programs. I do feel it does give us an edge, though. > > **Inconvénients**: I feel it can be a little too deep sometimes. A cut \& paste for the conditions from the take off screen tree would be extremely convenient. It also does not always start on the most recent condition that you edited. It will often begin the takeoff from the last condition that you used rather than the last condition that you edited. > > I really like working on the Edge. I feel it's accuracy and customization features for our scopes puts us a step higher than our competition. I like the ease of adjusting labor rates, and that once conditions are built they remain. > > **Inconvénients**: Editing the database is an awful task, and even when you think you have a handle on it....you don't. Formulas are damn near impossible to read unless you have a print out of what each piece of a formula means. In fairness, it is built into the program, but making one from scratch on your own is not worth the time it would take to learn it all. Setting up reports to reflect exactly what you want is extremely difficult. If you did it every single day and learned all of the ins and outs of how to set reports up that's one thing, but this is one of the most unfriendly aspects of the Edge. There are conditions that are never used and are unable to be deleted (hard to count how many times I've selected the wrong conditions), not everything saves in the database (FRP setup), and let's not forget that the amount of updates that there have been; more than Apple, and that's saying something\! I would be more apt to continue using a program like this in the future with some major overhauls on some areas, specifically ACT takeoffs; I can't click and drag for a square footage without it crashing the system. I have brought this to the attention of the developers/programmers and it is still not fixed. Also, is there a 3D rendering coming? > > Not much. There is a deep library of options and behind-the-scenes tools to master estimates and generate proposals. > > **Inconvénients**: Tools/functions are complex and challenging to navigate as a new user. All require external instructions and training, which can slow you down initially. > > Edge is unmatched in terms of capability and detail for roof estimation. I used it at my two companies, later introduced to two other companies where I worked after I sold my company. I've since retired and came back and have now introduced it to the two new companies that I work with. \[sensitive content hidden\] has always been there for me and very helpful. The support team has always been available and very helpful. The EDGE has provided me with as accurate an estimate that one could produce, and also provides the means to purchase and manage a project with materials and labor, as long as the user takes the time to dial in his database and insert the correct information.
